With over 7,00,000 cases due to Coronavirus pandemic, the world is in the middle of crises. In India, we have now more than 1,000 cases. With this, a pan country lockdown is also going on. Talking about the education sector, we are seeing major boards postponing their exams, cancelling exams for many classes and promoting students to the next class without exams. Major universities and institutes are also closed under the lockdown. Most of the major entrance tests have been postponed. In the midst of all of this, we got some CBSE Class 12 students talking about how are they utilizing these holidays. some are preparing for coming entrance examinations, while some are learning foreign languages, and others are working on their health, but it seems like everyone is busy with something or the other.

On March 18, 2020, the Central Board of Secondary Education, CBSE, released a notification stating that CBSE class 10, 12 board exams 2020 have been postponed due to the coronavirus outbreak. The notification read

The class 10, class 12 CBSE Board exams 2020 that were scheduled to be held between March 19, 2020, to March 31, 2020, will now be rescheduled after March 31, 2020, for all exam centers in India and abroad.

Soon after this, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced a pan India lockdown for 21 days, which will end on April 15, 2020. Therefore, the students of class 12 have holidays till April 15. So let’s see what are the students of class 12 doing in these unexpected holidays

Learning new language is fun

“They say that having an extra language in your resume is always a plus point, that’s why I decided to learn a new language, and because I am into Korean culture, therefore I decided to learn Hangul. I have been learning the language via different apps’ said Pallavi, a Science background student

It is true, these days Korean Language in in a trend, due to increasing popularity of Korean dramas, music, food, and lifestyle. With this, students are also going for French. Aanchal, a 12th grader pursuing Arts, tells us she had French till class 10 in her school, which is why she decided to pursue French again.

Preparing for different entrance tests

While some of the students are busy learning a third language, there are few who are busy in preparing for different entrance exams. Akshay, a science background student, said that during this time, he is preparing for the JEE mains. While Rambha, a commerce background student, is busy preparing for her Law entrance exam which is scheduled for June 2020.

I am busy preparing for my IELTS exam, as I wish to pursue my graduation in Canada. I have not yet decided where I want to go, the process of jotting down is still going on, but I am busy in brushing my English and preparing for the test.’ Said Akanksha, a Humanities student.

Spending quality time with family

Abhinav, who was the topper in his class (both 10th and 11th), said that this period came as a blessing for him, as every member of his family is at home and they all are spending their time together, after a very long time.

This is the first time in the last 2 to 3 years’ when my whole family is together. We watch movies, spend time playing ludo, and cooking amazing food. I am also revising for my exams, but I am also relishing this period.’ said Abhinav, a Commerce student.

Started reading again, watching Netflix

I was not able to take a book and relish it for a very long period of time, but these 21 days are not just helping me concentrate on my heath, but it is also allowing me to read books. So far I have finished two books, and I’m currently diving my third read.’ Said Astha, a Commerce student.

some are busy watching shows and movies on Netflix, while revising their syllabus for the exams which are left.

Right now, I am enjoying my time at home. With regular revision and staying upto date with news, I am completing a number of series which I left I December due to my board exams. Said Sidharth, an Humanities background student.

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) Class 10 and Class 12 board results 2020 will be declared by May end only if the board examination gets over in the month of April. As per reports, the CBSE Result 2020 is expected to be released by May 20. However, the CBSE is yet to release the revised exam dates of Class 10 and Class 12 board examination. All the CBSE board students are advised to keep a close check on the official website of the board for latest updates on results.
