Mursalin Hasan Chowdhury Alfi has become the winner of the British Council’s IELTS scholarship from North South University. 

The British Council made the announcement at a ceremony at the North South University on Monday. 

Tom Miscioscia, British Council Bangladesh’s director, handed over the certificate, Tk50,000 cheque and crest to Alfi.

IELTS campus ambassadors Khandkar Yaaseen Qader and Sadia Jeesan Ayesha also received certificates for their year-long contribution during the event, the British Council said in a statement. 

The scholarship money has been provided to the award winner to cover the tuition fee for the next semester.

Tom Miscioscia said: “The British Council is supporting universities and other partners across Bangladesh to provide young people with life-changing opportunities in education, English and the Arts.”

Chowdhury Alfi said: “The British Council has been the wind beneath my wings in my flight to conquering new heights. I am eternally grateful to the British Council for their immense support throughout the process.”

The IELTS scholarship scheme was open for all students of North South University who completed the IELTS test with a minimum score of 6 from the British Council.

The scholarship was awarded to the student after a competitive selection process by the British Council and the university.
